Tokyo is the head behind the contemporary menswear brand, Tokyo James. Tokyo has worked had to be reckoned with in the creative and media industry and is currently the head, Fashion, Accelerate TV. The British-Nigerian designer has just dropped his AW17 campaign, photographed by Anika Molnár and styled by Owethu Mentoor. The collection is titled ‘End Time.’
“There is a lot of trauma in the world now. All the talks and actions around racism, against immigrants and more, scare me. This is the inspiration behind this collection.”
His work is politically motivated and world affiliated as seen in his latest collection.
The campaign makes a bold statement with Tokyo James’ army of models pictured in branded helmets, and suits in leather and a lush green fabric, with a print reminiscent of a soldier’s green camouflage uniform.
Here’s what the designer had to say:
“It’s with great joy I share with you, my AW17 Campaign, inspired by the current Political and Economic Situation of the world, these are truly troubling times. The notion of freedom is a very fragile concept and something that we constantly need to fight to protect, because what binds us all together is love and our humanity, regardless of our race, religion, gender or sexuality. If the freedom of any of us is at risk, then the freedom of all of us is at risk. I would like to thank everyone that believes and supports me and thank you to my customers. Without you, this wouldn’t be possible.”
